Boulder Wall and Landscape Installation in Eagle ID

This Eagle backyard sits right along a golf course, so it already had great bones - big open views, mature trees, and nice outdoor living space. What it needed was structure. The yard lacked any real definition between the lawn and the fence line, and that long stretch of open ground wasn't doing anything for the overall look.

We built a natural boulder wall running the length of the back fence, using large, irregular sandstone boulders stacked to create a solid, layered look. That kind of wall isn't just about aesthetics - it defines the space, holds the planting bed in place, and gives the whole yard a grounded, intentional feel. The boulders are heavy and set with care, which is exactly why they hold up long-term without shifting or settling out of alignment.

Paired with the boulder wall, we installed a full landscape bed along the fence line. Dark decomposed granite was used as the base, and it sets off the warm tones of the stone really well. A concrete block border runs the entire curved edge of the bed, keeping everything crisp where the grass meets the rock. New trees and shrubs were planted throughout, giving the space room to grow and fill in over time.

What we ended up with is a backyard that actually matches the quality of the home. The structure is there, the lines are clean, and the plantings give it life without making it high-maintenance. That's really the goal with any landscape installation - build something that looks good now and holds up for years without a lot of fuss.
